About the Conservation Benefit Agreement (CBA) Working Group

Advancing Consistent, Effective and Collaborative CBAs

CBAs are a required part of the application for an enhancement of survival permit issued under Section 10(a)(1)(a) of the Endangered Species Act. Enhancement of survival permits allow for the take of threatened and endangered species associated with implementation of conservation actions such as prescribed burning, conservation mowing, or species reintroduction.

The CBA Working Group brings together applicants, implementers, agencies, practitioners and partners to share lessons learned, discuss emerging challenges, align on best practices, and support effective implementation of CBAs.

Why join the working group?
  • Share lessons learned
  • Promote consistency in CBA development and implementation
  • Identify challenges and opportunities for improvement
  • Discuss funding considerations and available resources
  • Build a community of practice across regions
